That's an issue that a lot of failed consoles seem to share (not that the Saturn was a failed console but it certainly wasn't as popular as the Playstation).

I feel in some ways like it's too late to switch platforms, especially if migrating the posts would be difficult. But maybe I should.Kurisuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00132568197501054206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3511469082358659396.post-30583983131499073942021-08-23T05:44:49.952-07:002021-08-23T05:44:49.952-07:00The reason that the first video game did not come ...The reason that the first video game did not come out in the West was that it was a 2D RPG, in those years the director of Sega of America copied the Nintendo business style that had the mantra "No RPG's" Jonashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11817461826274346228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3511469082358659396.post-90861884818268452952021-08-22T23:17:39.801-07:002021-08-22T23:17:39.801-07:00The final chapter really jumps the shark, but it&#...The final chapter really jumps the shark, but it's done in such a glorious way that I'll give it a pass. I loved every minute of Sakura Wars. It's one of the best games I've played, even if it's not exactly the most strategic out there. The Sega Saturn is easily the most underrated console I've seen. Still, I wasn't too big on Langrisser 3, although I'll have to see whether you find it more salvageable than I do.

I agree with your assessment that Sakura Wars is not really a SRPG. However, I facetiously refer to games like it and Quest 64 as SRPGs because there are a lot of people who call games like Valkyria Chronicles and Ogre Battle SRPGs (which aren't SRPGs unless you're using an extremely liberal definition lol). Sakura Wars has a lot more in common with a traditional SRPG than those games do.

If Blogger ever gets unbearable, you could always join me on Wordpress. I know there was some sorta reboot/retelling released not too long ago worldwide, and it didn't sell particularly well... so, they probably made the right call not to localize it back in the day. Generally, games which resemble VNs (Tokimeki Memorial, Angelique, Sakura Wars) just don't seem to be very popular outside of Japan. I also agree about the finale, I thought that last part was honestly kinda ridiculous, but not out of character for Japanese games. They like using various religions/mythologies loosely.cccmarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06334696427452657529noreply@blogger.com
